I am a geographer researching connections between the natural environment and human society. I serve on a committee of the American Geophysical Union (AGU) and am active in the Japan Geoscience Union (JpGU) and the Association of Japanese Geographers. Through teaching, writing, translation and international exchange, I bring geographical perspectives to a wider public.
